St Lucy’s is bustling with joy and renewed excitement for coming together, both in leaning and in celebration. We were thrilled to host our first Year 10 formal in November last year (a fantastic event!), to bring parents into our Creative Arts Centre for End of Year Concerts (talent and pure joy on stage!) and to host an important fundraiser at the Fullerton Hotel for corporate sponsorship for this very special school. Throughout all of these occasions we were grateful for having come through such a challenging time to find that our community was not just intact, but stronger and more committed to our important mission that ever.
St Lucy’s now stands on the verge of another important chapter in our history that is the development of our Catherine Centre, a high school facility with 12 classrooms and a variety of complementary learning spaces. The journey to this moment has been a long one, and has been driven by St Lucy’s parents, our committed staff and with the support of many. We are preparing to start development in late 2023 and we look forward to sharing the journey with you.
Along with this bricks and mortar endeavour, we have also just submitted our final accreditation documentation for Years 11 and 12. This is a significant accomplishment for St Lucy’s, as we realise the vision of becoming a K- 12 School for our much deserving and wonderful students. I’m sure that you will celebrate this excellent achievement and join me in thanking all the staff who dedicated themselves to this important work.
Finally, I want to tell you about the great strides St Lucy’s is making in further developing Wellbeing for students, staff, and our parent community. I’m delighted to share that we have appointed a Head of Wellbeing who is now leading staff in developing the tools and the scaffolding for meaningful wellbeing practices in our school. This includes developing a rich curriculum around Social and Emotional Learning including self-awareness, self-regulation, and relationship skills.
I hope that this message finds you well and that you will be with us in person, in one way or another, to see what St Lucy’s is achieving. On behalf of all the staff and students, I hope that you enjoy reading this edition of the St Lucy’s Learner.
