In the Classroom – St Lucy’s High School
St Lucy’s High School continues best practice and holistic education into the secondary years.
As a Special School, St Lucy’s adopts a balanced approach to teaching and learning, using both explicit methods and more child-centred approaches.
St Lucy’s has a social learning model. Students learn within a group, learning from and with one another and from and with staff. St Lucy’s also provides opportunities for individual teaching and learning in the classroom with generous staffing ratios.
Explicit teaching is utilised across all Key Learning Areas and particularly in the KLAs of English and Mathematics where research strongly supports this method of teaching and learning.
We have had the great luck to have secured a place at this school back in 2013 for our child who now attends high school at St Lucy’s. St Lucy’s has the most amazing teaching staff, great facilities, excellent support for families, sibling days, school holiday programs, lots of parent learning opportunities and workshops (therapeutic skills workshops like keyword sign, guardianship, post school options events), very considered delivery of curriculum. Thoroughly recommend this remarkable school.
“Where to start! Our child has thrived as a result of his teachers. They know him and how he learns, and this is a standout for us”

Our daughter has been at St Lucy’s for 7 years. This school has been the rock that has supported our family over this time. They have catered perfectly for our daughter’s needs, especially with their dance and art extra curricular programs but has also given us incredible support as a family. I cannot speak highly enough about this school and it’s staff. You feel the positive energy and happiness in the students and staff the minute you step in the door. Our experience with St Lucy’s has been life changing and life saving.
